Artist Profile

Garret Suhrie

Harrisburg, USA

Originally from Harrisburg, Garret Suhrie has spent the last decade exploring the world by moonlight, developing a distinctive approach to travel and landscape photography rooted in long exposure and the practice of “painting with light.” An alumnus of Philadelphia’s Tyler School of Art, his background in painting profoundly shapes the compositional sensibility of his photographic work.

Suhrie relocated to Los Angeles in 2007, where he served as Studio Manager, Producer, and Post-Production Artist for renowned photographer David LaChapelle—an experience that deeply informed his visual language and led to a grant from the Maybach Foundation. His photographs have been featured internationally in publications such as National Geographic, The Guardian, Smithsonian Magazine, Flaunt, and The Wall Street Journal.

In Suhrie’s work, night and landscape become territories of contemplation. Through patience that borders on ritual, he captures the invisible until it becomes tangible: subtle glimmers suspended between shadow and dawn. His images remind us that beauty does not always shine—sometimes it simply breathes, quietly, in the slow pulse of the dark.
