Artist Profile

Jacobo Parra

Monterrey, Mexico

Jacobo Parra is a Monterrey-based photography specializing in portraiture and human focus. Despite embarking on a degree in mechanical engineering at Universidad de Monterrey and Communication at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Parra confirmed his life’s dream to work in photography, experimenting with the lens at an amateur level with his family and local environment.

In 1994, he created his own series of images, Diaspora, which documented a Mennonite community in the Mexican state of Durango. Diaspora has been exhibited in Romania and Italy. This work led him to collaborate with various NGOs to document and archive humanitarian aid projects in Ghana.
