Artist Profile
Fran DaMor
Orizaba, Mexico
Fran DaMor’s sculptural work, primarily based on cedar wood, seeks to establish a connection between the essential elements of ethereal nature and an imagined conception of space in which the artist acts as creator. His pieces embody processes of self-reconstruction and find their meaning in the movement of art and in the relationship between humanity and its inner and outer realities.
DaMor’s works pursue harmony as a way to prevent destruction from overtaking the self; they function as open spaces that affirm the integrity of the present moment.
The sculptures and carved panels are executed mainly in cedar wood. With a growing interest in the collective art of Mexican cultures and artisans, the works also incorporate elements such as oil finishes, metals, quartz, and stones, referencing the traditions of Wixárika and Oaxacan art that have inspired the artist in the most recent stage of his career.
